Rich Ryerson
Coach and Founder
Overview: Rich Ryerson, a UNLV soccer alum (1983–1986), coached the Rebels for 12 seasons (2010–2021). A four-year starter, he holds the program’s record for career matches (84) and contributed to three NCAA Tournaments and a No. 4 national ranking in 1985. Inducted into the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010, Ryerson also played professionally for 10 years.
Coaching Highlights:
2014: Led UNLV to its first NCAA Tournament in 26 years, winning the WAC regular season and tournament. Named WAC and NSCAA Region Coach of the Year.
2016: Secured WAC Tournament title and UNLV’s first NCAA win in 29 years.
Player Development: Coached five MLS draft picks, including MAC Hermann Trophy nominee Danny Musovski.
Graduated over 80 student athletes.
Community Impact: Worked with local community leaders to save the program from elimination in 2010 through fundraising and prioritized local, first-generation student-athletes.

• Standout goalkeeper at UNLV (2002–2005); first three-time Mountain West All-Conference goalkeeper in league history
• Still holds UNLV program records for career shutouts (26), career goals-against average (0.90), and single-season goals-against average (0.34 in 2005)
• Seven years coaching in the Houston area at the high school and junior-high levels, also serving as athletic director, PE/health teacher, and varsity soccer coach
